Weekly Update from Pastor John

April 15, 2020

RE: New Series and Blessing Bags

I pray you and your family experienced a blessed Resurrection Sunday!  I know things were really different this year; a lot of us did not participate in all the traditional Easter activities!  We didn't have Easter Baskets, an Egg Hunt, or those pesky Confetti Eggs (that might have been a blessing). But we take hope in the knowledge that Jesus rose from the grave and death has been defeated!  We take hope understanding that the same power which resurrected Jesus from the dead is working in our lives as well.  The Easter message could not have come at a better time!

Verse of the Week
"He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul." Psalm 23:2

New Series Begins Sunday April 19
This Sunday we are starting a new series called, "I AM JESUS!"  Over the past month many people have felt a strong desire to lean into God and faith like never before.  And while we know a lot about God, many of us are learning what it means to walk with God each and every day.  Over the next 7 weeks we are going to talk about the one thing we need most:JESUS!  Who He is changes who we are.  In addition to the weekend teaching there will be a daily reading plan through the book of John as well as weekly Talk Sheets to help you go deeper with the lesson on your own, in your family, or with a group.

Blessing Bags Micro Mission - April 25
Providence is partnering with SHUR (Southwest Houston Unified Response) to provide food to those who need it most.  The need for basic food items has skyrocketed since COVID-19 began.  We are asking each family to put together 1, 3, 5, or 10 bags to be dropped off at Hodges Bend Middle School between 9:00 -11:00 AM Saturday, April 25th.  We can't meet every need, but we can meet some - LET'S DO THIS!!!
